What's a "Special Event"?
Special events are unique events usually held during evening hours at the aquarium, and typically involve parties, socials, networking, or weddings and receptions. They are mostly for adults, and can be fun to work as a volunteer; there's often live music.

Sometimes greeters are needed, and floor guides are usually needed to answer guests' critter questions.

Work whatever areas you feel comfortable in. If you're a birder or plant person, for example, you can hang around in the wetlands (an especially pleasant place in the evening) and tell guests about the birds or plants. Divers might want to hang around the reef and talk about the fish.

Relate your own diving or other wildlife experiences to guests. For some unusual topics to talk to guests about, read "Things That Make You Go Hmmm....". For more specific exhibit info (e.g., "what does that big goliath grouper weigh?) read the "Exhibits" pages.

The special events book is back in the volunteer lounge so you can check out upcoming events…..To schedule to work specific evening events which have no contact listed, you can sign up in the EVENTS BOOK in the volunteer lounge or call.

If you’ve never worked an event before, come on down, we’ll show you the ropes when you get here for the event. Just let us know it’s your first one when you sign up!
